During your well-deserved free time, you can explore exciting activities like thrilling kitesurfing or simply unwind on a leisurely traditional Dhow boat trip as the sun sets. This immersive Zanzibar marine conservation volunteer experience seamlessly combines meaningful work with the captivating, laid-back charm of true island life

Experience Zanzibar like never before at our modern, beachfront property designed for comfort and security. This shared accommodation offers gender-specific rooms, each accommodating up to four volunteers. Enjoy the convenience of bunk beds, private bathrooms, linens, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, and air conditioning for a restful stay. The property also boasts a pool, inviting social spaces, a dedicated Project Room, and office facilities.

Indulge in Zanzibar’s rich and diverse culinary scene. A local chef prepares fresh, delicious meals for you every weekday (Mon-Fri), featuring incredibly fresh seafood and a variety of local favorites like Zanzibar pizza, biryani, pilau, mishkaki (meat skewers), and mandazi (Swahili doughnuts). Options are available for non-seafood eaters as well

Our accommodation offers free WiFi to help you keep in touch with home. For additional connectivity, SIM cards can be easily purchased at local shops or the airport, with various packages for calls and data

Arrive at Abeid Amani Karume (ZNZ) International Airport on your Monday start date, where our friendly team will greet you with a sign for one of our two convenient transfers (11 am or 5 pm). You’ll be supported by experienced staff, including our Marine Coordinator, Nellie, a Norwegian marine biologist. Nellie leads vital projects on dolphin tourism behavior monitoring, coral reef bleaching, fisheries activity monitoring, and seagrass surveys, balancing ecological health with community engagement for sustainable conservation impacts.

Your safety in Zanzibar is paramount. We implement comprehensive measures, including 24/7 patrols at our secure base, continuous staff safety training, and strict protocols for boat and snorkeling activities with life jackets and trained personnel. You’ll receive a thorough safety induction upon arrival to ensure you’re well-prepared for your volunteer adventure
